About
Drew Daly uses everyday objects (chairs, tables, etc.) in his work, altering them into fascinating sculptural pieces. Drew received his MFA from the University of Washington in 2004, was an Artist in Residence at the Archie Bray Foundation, and has exhibited his work at the Texas State University, Austin, and Greg Kucera Gallery, Seattle. In 2008 he was awarded a Seattle Mayor’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs’ CityArtist Project.
Drew received 2006 GAP Award funding to purchase materials for a new project. His work can be seen at Greg Kucera Gallery in Seattle and then at Aqua Art Fair, Miami, later this year.
As part of his Fellowship’s Meet the Artist requirements, Drew gave a slide lecture and discussion at Seattle’s Lakeside School. Thirty students from several of the art classes attended. The discussion ranged from Daly’s early works as an undergraduate through his current work. Many of the questions asked by students were in regards to how he decided to pursue a career as an artist. He said his responses were “honest in presenting the challenges faced by the life of an artist, but also encouraging.”
