About

Elizabeth Montes de Oca is a multidisciplinary artist working in acrylic, printmaking, and lately exploring origami. She was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and has lived in Yakima WA for almost thirty years. Since her childhood, she has liked to observe the landscape that surrounds her, always imagining them as if they were paintings. Her first contact with drawing was in grades 7, 8, and 9 when she took technical drawing classes where she learned geometry and perspective. Captivated by the landscapes of Washington, she decided to start exploring different art media such as printmaking in 2015 and later painting. Elizabeth studied drawing, painting, and printmaking at Yakima Valley College from 2016 -2017. She is currently a member of Women Painters of Washington, Board member of Tieton Arts and Humanities, where she has taught painting and origami classes for children. Her work has been exhibited at Larson Gallery in Yakima WA. Boxx Gallery in Tieton WA. Gallery One in Ellensburg WA. Moses Lake Museum, Oak Hollow Gallery, and Collaboration Coffee in Yakima.
