About

Haein Kang is a new media artist born and raised in Seoul, currently living and working in Seattle. Her art practice seeks to expand our awareness of art by using technology to create poetic beauty. She holds a BFA in Painting from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, Korea, MFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, US, and Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington in Seattle, US.

Haein began her career as an artist in 2002 by winning Construct2, an installation art award hosted by San Francisco Arts Commission. Haein’s works have been exhibited internationally at various venues, including Seoul Olympic Museum of Art, Gallery 4Culture, Richard Levy Gallery, Southern Exposure Gallery, ICMC-NYCEMF, IEEE-GEM, SIGGRAPH-Asia, ISEA, and CODAME ART+TECH. In addition, Haein received an Honorary Mention at the 2019 Prix Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria.
