About

Jessica Plumb is a filmmaker and video artist known for award-winning short films, best described as video poetry. Her work explores the relationship between people and the land they inhabit. She launched a career in Boston and Beijing, but found home on the Olympic Peninsula, where she is producing a feature documentary about the Elwha River. Jessica has worked on documentary and narrative films in the roles of producer, editor and cinematographer, and has directed numerous educational and promotional videos for an array of clients. She holds a B.A. from Yale University and an interdisciplinary MFA from Goddard College.

Jessica received a 2012 GAP for her film Return of the River. As the producer, writer and editor of the film, she hopes to collaborate with an animator to illustrate key concepts of the film. The documentary explores a pivotal story in the Pacific Northwest: addressing big themes, cultural and environmental, through the lens of a single river, the Elwha. This story is a tapestry of diverse voices, linked by a river. A visual artist could weave threads of the film together, and introduce the river’s role in a more lyrical, less literal manner. More specifically, an animator could transform historical scenes and make scientific concepts accessible.
