About

Joey Moran is a visual artist primarily working in lenticular image design – prints that change depending on the angle they are viewed from. Joey uses perceptual novelty to pull at the tension between our senses and our narratives, with the goal of encouraging the reexamination of the stories we tell ourselves about what we deem obvious. As a neurodivergent artist they hope to utilize the medium to show different perspectives and offer representation to alternative experience in visual metaphor. Joey was born in Portland, Oregon but spent their early childhood in Hong Kong and Tokyo. They graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012 with a focus in audio electronics and computer programming. Along with their art practice, Joey has passion for plants and agriculture. They currently live in Olympia, Washington, where they design and print lenticular images in their studio.
