About

Matthew Sullivan received his B.A. from the University of San Francisco and his M.F.A. from the University of Idaho. His short stories have been awarded the Del Sol Press “Robert Olen Butler Fiction Prize” and the “Florida Review Editor’s Prize for Fiction”. He has been published in The Chattahoochee Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Fugue, Evansville Review, and 580-Split.  He has also been a finalist for Playboy’s College Fiction Contest, the Pushcart Prize.” Matthew’s first novel What You Have Done will be published by Scribner in 2016.

Matthew received 2015 GAP funding to support research and writing of his new novel, Life Before Air, a fictionalized version of the rural central Washington town of Soap Lake. The grant will financially support him while he does the required research and traveling for understanding the lake’s limnology, making that a pivotal part of the novel.
