About

Mike Caemmerer is an emerging playwright and ceramic artist. In 2019, having spent the better part of his life helping others through his teaching and arts admin work lead their best creative lives, Mike left his salaried arts job to focus on figuring out how to tell the stories from his own life that he had stored up over the years.

He grew up immersed in the arts with artist parents who took the family on unending adventures around the world. Stories from family experiences grew into lore that he learned to tell in his own way, through his own lenses, helping form who he is as a theatre artist and story teller.

With a focus on taking liberties with the stories from his own life, he coins his primary genre as ‘memoir-ical fiction”.

His current work, Angel on a 50th Birthday, was developed at the Hundredth Hill in Bloomington, Indiana at their 2021 Playwrights Festival where it received a staged reading. In the summer of 2022, it received readings at Collapse Gallery in Wenatchee, WA, and at Grunewald Guild in Plain, WA with the actors from Full Circle Theatre Company. FCTC is now looking to help create “Angel’s” premier production.

Mike taught theatre for nearly 20 years, at the Taipei American School in Taiwan and in New Delhi India at the American Embassy School. He teaches workshops for the International Schools Theatre Association. He was program director at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts from 2014-2019.
