About

Miguel del Aguila is a three time Grammy nominated American composer and pianist whose vibrant, rhythm driven music reflects his Latin American roots, immigrant journey, and queer identity. Born in Uruguay and based in Seattle since many years, he has created more than 140 works that have been performed by over 100 orchestras and ensembles worldwide, including the Seattle Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony. His music appears on more than 70 recordings.

Del Aguila studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and later in Vienna at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, experiences that shaped his distinctive blend of classical craft and Latin American pulse. His 2010 album Salón Buenos Aires earned two Grammy nominations, and his Concierto en Tango received a nomination in 2015. In 2024, WindSync Plays Miguel del Águila reached the top of the Billboard Classical Charts. He has collaborated with leading conductors such as JoAnn Falletta, Leonard Slatkin, Marin Alsop, and Lukas Foss, and his music continues to be championed by performers across the Americas and Europe.
