About

As a result of Monica’s parents being forced into exile from Cuba, Monica was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in April 1969. Two years later her parents moved to Miami, Florida where she was raised. Monica comes from a family line of Cuban artists, Jorge Arche her paternal grandfather and Aristides Fernandez her paternal great uncle. These two artists made great contributions to the Modern Art Movement in Cuba. Today they are considered among Cuban Masters. Monica’s art is inspired not only by her innate instincts that have evolved since early childhood but through her highly sensitive observation of her environment. She is a prolific artist who is unstoppable in her journey to accomplish as much art work in her lifetime as possible. Monica has dedicated her life to art and to that compulsive force that always drives her to create. Today, Monica lives in Federal Way, Washington where she resides with her family and has her studio at home.

Monica received 2019 GAP Award funding for It’s All Energy An Artist Journey, a new series of murals that are to be developed and presented. These valued funds will allow her to purchase the materials needed and will contribute to the expense of renting a space so this new body of work may be shared with others.
