About
Nhatt Nichols is a multidisciplinary artist and writer raised on top of a mountain in the Okanogan. She currently lives in the woods over Discovery Bay on the Olympic Peninsula.
A graduate of The Royal Drawing School in London, she uses drawing, poetry, and comics to break down political and environmental issues. Her work centers around rural narratives, forests, borders, and food systems. Her graphic journalism is in High Country News, Civil Eats, and The Daily Yonder. Nhatt moves between journalism, poetry, and fiction fluidly, always coming back to the ways people and animals influence each other and the world around them.
A recipient of a Culture and Animals Foundation Grant, she is currently researching and writing her next graphic novel, The Forest Bison. In it, she explores 400 years of human/animal history in Poland’s Białowieża Park, one of the oldest forests in Europe.
Her book-length poem about a post-people planet, This Party of the Soft Things (Bored Wolves, 2022), is in its second printing, and her illustrated novella, Morels will be published by Bored Wolves in 2024.
Nhatt loves finding new ways to use radical hope and beautiful images to meet people where they are and ask them to reach deeper.
