About

Parmida Ziaei is an Iranian performer, choreographer and designer based in Seattle. Parmida’s work is often a culmination of her dual identities as an Iranian immigrant, and is informed by her background in architecture and theatre. As a dancer, Parmida often brings together the intricacy and elegance of her Classical Persian dance background and the freedom of modern and contemporary movement to create a unique movement style that is a representation of her merging identities. In her teaching and choreography work, she is interested in exploring how each person’s body embodies movement informed by their experiences to tell a story and express emotions. Parmida recently performed her original solo show, Dancing beyond the Veil, as part of Macha Theatre’s 17 minute stories. As a designer, Parmida has designed various interior, architectural, immersive and entertainment spaces. She has been a scenic and production designer with many Seattle theatres including Village Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Seattle Public Theatre, ArtsWest and more. Parmida is the co-founder of Seda Iranian Theatre Ensemble and was the recipient of the Northwest Creator Residency at Village Theatre in 2022.
