About

Seattle artist Paul E. McKee’s early employment as a recycler plus his study of assemblage at The Evergreen State College made him an adept bricoleur.

While practicing bricolage he realized that he could collect and recombine images much more easily than materials. This spurred him to learn more image-making techniques at Gage and Pratt. It occurred to him that processes might also be collected and recombined.

His Urban Reflections project views the contemporary city through the lens of traditional styles.

Working at the pace of Baroque painter or Celtic illuminator, McKee finds that distorted shapes in reflections evoke a stream of unconsciousness.
