About

Po-Yan Tsang is a contemporary realist painter working primarily in oil. She was born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to Toronto, Canada with her family when she was a teenager.

Po-Yan’s works start from direct observation, through painting plein air, still life setups, or reference sketches and photos she takes herself. Despite living in cities most of her life, she has deep love for the outdoors and enjoys hiking, backpacking, cycling, and kayaking, all influencing her landscape works. She draws inspiration from nature and also common mundane objects in modern life.

Po-Yan’s works have been shown in group exhibits at Gage Academy of Art and in local Seattle galleries including Gallery Axis, Magnuson Park Gallery, and Domicile Gallery + Design.

She is a graduate of the Kang-O’Higgins Atelier at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. Before that she worked professionally in the software industry for over a decade and holds degrees in engineering. She currently lives and works in Seattle, WA.
