About

Rachel Atkins is the scriptwriter for Living Voices, with 11 different multi-media shows in ongoing national tours, and a regular adapter for Book-It Repertory Theatre’s mainstage, educational and touring productions. Her plays have been seen locally at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, The Empty Space, Annex Theatre, and 14/48, and regionally at American Repertory Theater in Massachusetts and the Virginia Theatre in Illinois. Previously, she was the scriptwriter/dramaturge for Ardeo Theatre Project in France. She graduated from Dartmouth College and holds her Masters in Educational Theatre from NYU. Rachel was honored to be a 2010 TPS Gregory Awards nominee for Outstanding Playwright.

Rachel received a 2012 GAP to cover a portion of stipend artist fees for the artist, the director, actors and production team. The project is a production of the play Voyage for Madmen, based on the amazing and outrageously true story of Ardeo Theatre Project, a community-based college study abroad program designed to create original, ensemble-based theatre. Voyage for Madmen is definitively poised to unite the past, present and future of the local arts community. It will be both a celebration of the trials and triumphs of those who forged the way, and an introduction to the depth of this city’s theater scene for visitors and new arts lovers alike.
