About

Rezene Tsegai is a painter turned sculptor. He taught himself painting for the last eight years and discovered ceramic sculpture in the winter of 2018. Rezene is currently improving his skills at the Seward Park Clay Studio.

In the spring of 2018, Rezene was invited to be a guest artist at the Seward Park Clay studio. He understands that ceramic sculpture is a very natural, ancient art form and has decided to create images that both honor these traditions, and that fill the void of representation.

Rezene received 2018 GAP Award funding for help with the continued creation of ceramic sculptural works for his series titled Haftay.

Artist Trust thanks the Seattle Art Dealers Assocation (SADA) for underwriting this award through Artist Trust’s Corporate Partnership program. For information about supporting Washington State artists, visit here.
