About

Rob Young is an acclaimed filmmaker, music artist, theatrical producer, and social entrepreneur from Tacoma, Washington whose work lives at the intersection of creativity and advocacy. Raised by a poet father and a mother dedicated to STEM equity leadership, Rob was shaped by a deep commitment to cultural preservation and social impact. He is the founder of Excuse My Accent and CEO of Rob Young Productions, and serves on the Board of Directors for Black Deported Veterans of America, where he uses storytelling and live performance as tools for national advocacy. His award-winning debut documentary Bring Them Home, centered on deported U.S. veterans, earned 17 festival selections and four Best of the Fest awards, screened at the United States Capitol in support of the Veteran Service Recognition Act, and helped generate dozens of legislative meetings and new congressional co-sponsors. He has spoken at Brown University and Harvard University on the power of creativity as a force for change.

Rob is also the producer and performer of the two-man theatrical production Said By The Father and Son, created and performed alongside his father. The live experience blends poetry, music, and storytelling to explore legacy, identity, Black fatherhood, and generational healing. As a hip-hop artist, his single “Excuse My Accent” surpassed 3 million views on YouTube, and his album Life Is 2020 in Hindsight captured the emotional landscape of a defining era. His work bridges artistry and action, empowering audiences to find their voice and build a more inclusive future.
