About

Robert Campbell makes work that includes video art, digital film, digital imaging, installation, and documentary filmmaking. Since 1984 his single-channel video art work has been exhibited at festivals and exhibitions nationally and internationally in Europe and Japan. For the past 15 years, his installation work has been featured in museums and galleries around the country and included in recent ISEA and Santa Fe International New Media Festivals. His video/dance collaborations have been featured at On the Boards, Bumbershoot, Port Angeles Fine Art Center, and Lincoln Center in New York. He currently teaches in the Art Department at Cornish College of the Arts.

Robert received 2012 GAP Award funding to fund the services of Seattle composer Jarrad Powell for the musical soundtrack of his experimental documentary, Pulchrior in Luce. He also hopes to hire a professional narrator and cover the costs of poster and newspaper advertising. Robert’s documentary is a twelve-part work that attempts to push the definition of documentary “narrativity” in a mostly non-verbal, non-dramatic direction utilizing a dream logic consisting of collages of color, sound, movement and architectural relationships to create a poetic “documentary of mind” where the architecture emerges as the locus of visual analysis.
