About

Scott Bailey creates landscape-based paintings, animations and digital renderings. He has held solo exhibitions in the US, Japan, Italy, Egypt, and South Africa, and his work has been critically recognized in a variety of national and international publications. He works also as a writer, curator, and educator who has written as the Seattle Corresponding Editor for Contemporary Magazine (London) and currently serves as the head of the Art Department at Wenatchee Valley College. His work draws heavily on his experiences of living in Italy, Japan and Egypt, and having traveled to more than 50 countries.

With the assistance of his 2011 GAP grant for printing and framing costs, Scott will be able to produce new work for exhibition based on various virtual terrains he is creating. Printed on large, stretched canvases, they reference traditional, sublime Romantic landscape painting and nature photography, while insidiously questioning the nature of our relationship to the location and the efficacy of any vicarious experience of it.

Scott also serves as an Artist Trust Ambassador.
