About

Shelby Allison is a visual artist focusing on illustration, digital art, painting, and mural art. Her work primarily centers around the feminine experience and often is intertwined with fairy tale-like folklore. She is influenced by Arts & Crafts movement era illustration, mid-century design and children’s media. In 2018, she graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BFA in Visual Communication & Design. Since then she has been working to use her gained knowledge to bridge fine art and graphic design within her work. In early 2019, she formed a mural art duo, SeeSaw Arts, with Susan Webber and has since made this her focus. Additionally, she has participated in numerous community events such as the Monster Drawing Rally, Emerge Ink! Print Rally, Terrain, Brrzaar, and Charity Events to Fight Cancer among others.

Shelby received the 2019 GAP Award funding to aid in the creation of a series of posters. This poster series focuses around the modern female experience and will be referencing poster art from the early 1900s. The funding will be used to purchase an iPad and Apple Pencil, which she will be using to elevate her work to a more professional level.
