Tammie Rubin

Tammie Rubin received 2008 GAP Award funding to create a new body of sculptures made with colored porcelain. Her previous work has been the creation of fanciful creatures that appear both familiar and alien. Tammie is inspired by manufactured objects, which are often labeled as disposable or trivial. In her new work, she hopes to incorporate the translucency of stained porcelain in order to better express her message of the changing historical views of ornament and pattern in contemporary culture. In 2008, she was the featured artist in the May issue of Ceramics Monthly.
