Congratulations, Justine!

As announced, Emily Dennis, our Annual Fund & Events Manager is leaving Artist Trust in August. Who will fill such big shoes, you ask? Who better than our current Development Coordinator, Justine Deacon. We are happy to announce that Justine has been promoted to Annual Fund & Events Manager following Emily’s departure. We asked Justine a few questions to hear her thoughts on the transition and what she’s hoping to learn. Justine shared, “I’m really excited about the new position! The promotion came at the perfect time, the week after my graduation, and I’m looking forward to using more of the skills I gained through the MFA in Arts Leadership program at Seattle University. It’s also been a great learning experience being the Development Intern and Development Coordinator and working closely with Emily. She’s been a great mentor and role model and leaves big shoes to fill, but I’m very excited for this new challenge! As the Development Coordinator, I have been able to observe all facets of the development department and I’m excited to learn more of the specifics of managing the annual fund and the annual benefit art auction. I hope to utilize research from my Summary Project ‘Racial Equity in the Systems of Fundraising and Development: More than Money’ and apply a lens of racial equity to my work in my role as Annual Fund and Events Manager. I also look forward to building personal relationships with our donors and continuing Artist Trust’s fundraising success.”
