Conductive Garboil Grant
The Conductive Garboil Grant (2009-2019), in partnership with 4Culture, was an unrestricted award of $3,000 given to Seattle-based artists who demonstrated a profound ability to challenge limits of creative discourse and its effects on our society, pushing the artistic act beyond accepted limits, definitions, or purposes while engaging audiences outside the aesthetic industrial complex.

This award was made possible by a generous gift from Seattle artist Su Job (1956-2008).

Recipients of this award are Johnathan H. Lambe (2008), Sheri Brown (2009), Kelly Lyles (2010), artist team Jeff Jacobson and Jen Vertz (2011), Paul Rucker (2012), Christian French (2013), Jeppa Hall (2014), Robb Kunz (2015), Tariqa Waters (2016), Romson Bustillo (2017), Juan Alonso-Rodriguez (2017), Shontina Vernon (2018), Fulgencio Lazo (2018), and Carol Williams (2018).

 

James W. Ray Venture Project Awards
The James W. Ray Venture Project Awards (2014-2018), in partnership with the Frye Art Museum Consortium, were two unrestricted awards of $15,000 each given annually to support artistic excellence and the development of new ideas through individual and collaborative projects by artists of all disciplines living and working in Washington State whose work demonstrates exceptional originality.

This award was made possible by the Raynier Institute & Foundation.

Recipients of this award are Amy O’Neal (2014), Cris Bruch (2014), Alison Marks (2015), Storme Webber (2015), Quenton Baker (2016), Juventino Aranda (2016), Veronica Lee-Baik (2017), Christopher P. Jordan (2017), Antonio Gomez (2018), and Casandra Lopez (2018).

 

James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award
The James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award (2014-2018), in partnership with the Frye Art Museum Consortium, was an unrestricted award of $50,000 given annually to a Washington State artist working in any discipline whose work demonstrates exceptional originality. The James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award is intended to help advance the creative work of outstanding individual artists. Artists producing unique work through collaboration will also be considered.

This award was made possible by the Raynier Institute & Foundation.

Recipients of this award are Jessika Kenney (2014), David Shields (2015), Donald Byrd (2016), Jane Wong (2017), and Anastacia-Renee (2018).

 

LaSalle Storyteller Award
The LaSalle Storyteller Award (2015-2019) was an unrestricted grant of $10,000 given to a Washington State artist engaged in storytelling through their artistic discipline. The 2019 Award will recognize an outstanding literary artist working in fiction.

Funding for the LaSalle Storyteller Award was generously donated by author Gar LaSalle.

Recipients of this award are Anca L. Szilágyi (2015), Peter Mountford (2016), E. Lily Yu (2017), Juan Reyes (2018), and Johanna Stoberock (2019).

 

The Native Creative Development Program
The Native Creative Development Program (2005-2006), in partnership with The Longhouse Education & Cultural Center at Evergreen College, was a project-based grant of $2,000 given to a Native artist in Washington State to further their practice as individual artists while also engaging their respective communities.

Funding for The Native Creative Development Program was made possible with support from the Tulalip Tribe and the Fund for Folk Culture.
